Our Founder
Late Sri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai (1852 - 1909) is the Founder of Canara Group of Institutions. His concern for social upliftment led to the formation of the Canara High School, Mangaluru, the century old precursor to the conglomeration of Canara Educational Institutions of today; while his spirit of enterprise gave birth to yet another national institution, the Canara Bank, in 1906.
Our Prinipal
A graduate in Commerce from Canara College, Mrs. Anila is an MBA with a specialisation in Marketing. She is also an MA in Sociology. She worked as an Assistant Professor at Canara Evening College for 5 years before taking over as the Principal on 28 September 2020.
She has done several studies on the impacts of training in human resource development, reading of which can give plenty of insights for researchers in HRD and leadership.
Academic Offerings
At Canara, we offer a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, popularly known as B.Com. It is a 3-year undergraduate degree in Commerce, evenly distributed over 6 half-yearly semesters.
This course teaches aspirants to enhance competitive managerial skills by imparting knowledge on accounting, economic policies, tax regimes, marketing, human resource and other aspects which impact trade, commerce and the banking sectors.

Canara Evening College was established in the year 2014 with the purpose of offering academic assistance and support to students who are either pursuing professional courses like CA/CS or are working for their livelihood. Both these groups of students have the need to complete a graduate course.
Fulfilling the cherished hopes and desires of the students to earn an Undergraduate course of study under challenging conditions has been and always will be the goal of this Institution in the process, finding methods also to contribute to the overall development of the personality of the students.
Students at Canara Evening College are encouraged to imbibe qualities of leadership throughout their student life with the college for three years. A lot of importance is given to make the students turn out be responsible and committed individuals. The Importance of Imbibing values and adhering to them throughout one’s life is made clear to the students to succeed in both their professional and personal life.
